Townhill Visit
One of the velo-city team's main objective is to encourage the younger generation of scottish children to spend more time cycling and less time in front of computer screens and television sets.

One way we decided to reach the children of South Lanarkshire is have various visits to one of the many primary schools - Townhill Primary in Hamilton.

  What We Did
During our visits we provided the primary 5 students with numerous information about cycling and its benifits. The students seemed keen to hear the various aspects of cycling and especially how it improves your health. Also whilst giving the pupils a brief quiz about cycling safely the children seemed eager to answer and voice their opinions.

Competition
Besides giving the primary 5 pupils information based on cycling we decided to give them the chance to participate in the Velo-City Challenge themselves. We decided that they may be bored listening to us rabble on with cycling facts so we gave each individual a chance to design a poster to encourage poeople to 'get on their bike'. After a week of scribbling pens and quite hard judging the Velo-City team came to the decision of the top 5. Aswell as recieving prizes from ourselves the young artists posters will be shown to the world at the Velo-City conference in September this year.

Thanks
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the primary 5 children at Townhill for their participation in the competition and being so enthusiatic. We also couldn't have succeeded without the help of the staff from the school.

Come on P.5 get on your bike!!!
